This volume collects the papers given at the ninth Krakow-Augsburg Symposium in October 2017. The symposium's general topic was the so-called principle of the 'unity of the legal order'. According to German constitutional law, the principle is closely linked to the rule of law and requires a certain degree of consistency as well as the absence of discrepancies between different legal rules. The Polish and German authors approach the principle from theoretical, philosophical and methodological perspectives before discussing different areas of law – constitutional, administrative, private, consumer, tax, and criminal law- from the perspectives of the principle.
